Kinja'd!!!

Been a "meh" week.. Kinja has been kicking my ass all week. 10-12" of snow coming in (BMW Hoonage has already happened) so it's not a complete wash. Also found the set of wheels I want to get, only come in 19's though. Any E9x owners care to chime in?

Man, you don't know how much you use Oppo until it stops working haha!

I'll chime in. What wheels are only 19s? Just buy a set of Apex and be done with it =D

Alufelgen SF-71's. Funnily enough, a set of 17" Apex ARC-8's was also on the list. Might upsize to 18's because I'll be spending more time on the road, not the track.

I use ARC-8s as my track wheels. Satin black, 18x10 et25 square. Can't speak highly enough about them, they're fantastic!

Pics!! I was thinking of going with 18x9 (I believe it's gotta be 9" wide for any concavity) square set up in hypersilver but I'm still undecided on finish. My E90 is sparkling graphite.

I've heard many good things about these wheels. Great to daily drive from what I've been reading. The light weight will really help how the car drives and the strength will make driving on bad roads more bearable. The price is really great too! Any particular reason you don't DD them? (I'm guessing the expensive track rubber + 220m's) The picture above is a meaty 17x9 setup.

I'm sure you've seen this pic before! And yes, that's exactly why I don't DD them. I wish I could because I like them so much, but it's my track-only rubber and I'm not going to risk a puncture. Plus, honestly, the PSSes (on my 220Ms) are better suited to street use than the AD08s on the Apex set. But god damn do black wheels look good on the car with the studs. =D

Here's a better picture of just the wheel/tire. These tires are 265s, but I think I'm going to run 285s next time (which will probably be my last "street" tire before switching to the NT01).

Good to hear you like the PSS's. I plan on getting a set for whatever wheels I end up getting.

That's an awesome set up. I think you'll like the NT01's. One of my buddies runs them on his E46 M3 and those tires are just amazing. Not the best in inclement weather but if you aren't DD'ing them you should be fine.

Those 17s look good on the E90 you posted. I'd definitely go with either 17 or 18 for your car. With 17 you have the advantage of a slightly lighter wheel and slightly cheaper tires, which will matter if you're going to be tracking a bunch (which I think you said you were) and buying new tires. With the 18, however, you have a muuuuuuuuch better chance of picking up a used set of track rubber for next to nothing, since almost everyone runs 18s. For example, my instructor is selling me that set of used 285/35 AD08s I mentioned that he says I can "get a season out of"... for $250. Go look those puppies up on TireRack if you're curious how much of a deal that is.

Also - and this is slightly stupid - 18 seems to be the "right" size wheel for the E9X from an aesthetic and practical standpoint. My 19s are ok but I absolutely wouldn't buy a set of 19s if they didn't come with the car, especially with how the roads are in PA. My winters are 18, track set is 18 and I ran two sets of 18s on my E92 335 I had before. Never once said "boy, I wish I had bigger wheels."

Yeah the 17" don't look bad, but 18" do look better. Great point on the used tires for 18's. Last week some guy local to me was selling a set of NT01's with about half their life left for around $270 obo picked up. They were horrible in the snow, and we just got 12" today haha. I don't remember the specs but they were 18's.

I agree on the 19's. I like the OEM selection, but I don't want to run 19's in the NoVa/DC area. 18's are just right. The ride isn't bad as long as you aren't on runflats. They also look great on a stock car. You don't need to lower the car to make it look good, but most 19's on a stock or especially x drive suspension just looks pretty strange.
